Trustee's Update - August 24, 2023

Paul Davis has had their work crews back in town the last two weeks performing the final cleanup in in our classrooms prior to school reentry.

Once classrooms were cleaned, the contents boxes were moved back into the rooms to await clearance for teachers to begin setting up for the first day

Getting a Temporary Occupancy Permit from the city and the fire department will require two inspections. The first inspection will allow teachers and staff in the building. All areas of the building we plan on using will need to be finished and the fire alarm needs to be operational in the entire building. For example, ceilings need to be in place, all exit signs and emergency lights must be installed and operational, all wall and floor penetrations must be fire blocked, and all corridors and stairwells must be cleared. Korsmeyer Fire Protection is working hard this week to get our fire alarm operational so we are ready for this first inspection next week

Roedel's Cleaning Services has been working in the evenings to get our tile floors shining for the start of school.

Once we pass the first inspection, teachers and staff can enter the building, but not students. The second inspection can be done once all the classrooms are set up and the building is ready for school. They will be looking for extension cords and other fire hazards and free egress in halls.

A special thanks goes out to all the contractors who have gotten us this far. We would not be this close to opening school without them. They fit us into their already busy summer schedules with little advanced notice and have done top notch work on a very aggressive timeline.
