What is the Bible?
The Bible is where we find God’s truth about our Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. God the Holy Spirit is the true author of Holy Scripture and gave to His chosen writers the thoughts that they expressed and the words that they wrote. For this reason, the Bible is unlike all other books. It breaks the boundaries of time and place. The Bible is relevant to all people no matter, their age, ethnicity, language, or background. The Holy Spirit works through the Word of God to create saving faith in its hearers.
Law & Gospel
There are two major doctrines presented in the Bible—the Law and the Gospel. The Law is God’s holy and perfect will for our lives. However, we are unable to keep God’s Law and, therefore, are spiritually separated from God and condemned. The Gospel is the good news of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Because we cannot fulfill the demands of the Law on our own, God sent His own Son into human flesh to live the perfect life that we cannot. Jesus took all of our sins upon Himself when He died on the cross, exchanging for it His own righteousness. This is the central message of the Bible and of the Christian faith—that Christ Jesus died to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost (1 Timothy 1:15).
